Percy Harvin Highlights
Percy Harvin was born May 28th, 1988 in Virginia Beach, VA to father William Percival Harvin Jr. and mother Linda Little. He grew up in Virginia Beach helping his mother and sister take care of dozens of children at their daycare home. Harvin was no stranger to success on the football field early on, taking the Virginia Beach Mustangs all the way to a Pop Warner National Championship victory in 2001.
Officially born William Percival Harvin III, Percy Harvin caught scouts eyes early in his freshman year at Landstown High School when he recorded a 4.3 second 40-yard dash time. He would then lead his hometown Eagles to a Group AAA runner-up the following year, and a State Championship with a perfect 14-0 record in his junior year. In the Championship Game, Harvin amassed 476 all purpose yards and 5 Touchdowns while defeating James Robinson High School 47-20.
On December 19th of 2005, Percy Harvin committed to the University of Florida joining the Gator Nation. Harvin had an immediate impact on the Florida Gators football team, helping them win the SEC Championship against Arkansas with a stellar performance that included 167 yards receiving and rushing with 2 Touchdowns. After winning MVP honors for that game, Harvin completed his ultimate goal of winning a National Championship in just his first year in the NCAA with 60 reception yards, 22 rushing yards, and a TD on the ground against Ohio State. Harvin also won the 2006 SEC College Freshman of the Year.
Harvin had an excellent sophomore season becoming a consistent dual threat on the ground and through the air. His new position was WR/RB, catching for 858 yards and 4 TDs and running for 764 yards and 6 TDs. After being named to the Heisman Trophy contenders list in his second year at UF, Harvin brought the Gators right back to the BCS National Championship in 2008 with 1303 yards receiving/rushing and 17 total Touchdowns. Harvin helped defeat Oklahoma with 49 reception yards, 122 rush yards, and a rushing TD.
Harvin declared for the NFL draft after bringing home 2 National Chomp-ionships to Gainesville in just three years with the Florida Gators. Harvin impressed scouts with a stand-out performance at the NFL combine that included a 4.4 second 40-yard dash. On April 25th of 2009, Percy Harvin was selected by the Minnesota Vikings with the 22nd pick of the 1st round in the NFL Draft. Harvin will join Adrian Peterson and the Vikings as one of the most explosive offensive threats in the National Football League.
